As the maritime industry continues to undergo digitalisation and picks up efforts towards decarbonisation, there is a growing need for our seafarers to learn new skills. In our effort to keep pace with technological advancements, Thome has always been at the cutting edge of new training techniques to enhance the learning and development of our people.
Thome has introduced a new online Learning Management System (“LMS”) to provide greater visibility of future training needs and skills of our people. For example, the LMS allows managers to have an overview of their employees’ learning requirements, history and their progress against their training plans. When employees feel that they require training, they may propose and submit training applications through the Employee Self-Service Portal. Furthermore, we are building a culture of open sharing at Thome, where younger employees are encouraged to share technological knowledge with senior employees.
